PART 1 — THE MASTER PLAN (one page)
The business: Rapid Deploy Technologies Inc. — connectivity installs for mid-Vancouver Island (Parksville, Qualicum Beach, Nanoose Bay, Errington, Coombs, French Creek).
The angle:"I built the towers your signal comes from." Jonathan — 10 years in wireless: tower erection to 500', microwave alignment, remote helicopter fly-in sites, then foreman and now manager on Telus/Rogers 4G & 5G builds (Westower 2010–2020, TRK Connect 2020–2022, Wesbell 2022+). Certs: SPRAT/IRATA Level 1, tower rescue, H2S Alive, BC Level 1 first aid. No booster salesman on the Island can say this. It kills the "is this guy legit?" objection on contact.
The three layers:
1. Public Facebook group — "Bad Cell Service Vancouver Island 🍁" → trust, dead-spot map, carrier petitions, education. Free forever. This is the top of the funnel and must never smell like a sales funnel.
2. Rapid Deploy Technologies Inc. Facebook Page → services, prices, reviews, booking. The commercial home.
3. Monetization — installs first, affiliate second. Install labour is the business. Amazon.ca affiliate links on ISED-certified hardware are the side income that funds the map.
Positioning: 🍁 Canadian-first — Smoothtalker (made in Canada) and ZOLEO (Canadian company) lead every recommendation; SureCall and weBoost offered honestly as US-made options exposed to tariff price swings. This matches Island buy-Canadian sentiment and the 2026 trade-war reality without overstating anything.
The golden rule: 90% community value, 10% business. If a post doesn't help a member first, it doesn't go up.
Retired ideas (left behind — do not use)
Generic "local installer" positioning → replaced by the tower-tech trust angle.
"Dead-Zone Diagnosis" → renamed Tower-Tech Signal Survey ($89).
Leading with SureCall → replaced by Canadian-first ordering (Smoothtalker/ZOLEO first).
Group name variants ("Bad Cell Service Van Isle", etc.) → locked: Bad Cell Service Vancouver Island 🍁.
Employment-conflict caution → Jonathan is currently unemployed; no conflict to navigate.
Group starter kit v1 (generic) → replaced by v2 (wireless angle + Tower Tech Explains pillar).

[ ] COMPLIANCE GATE (do before publishing the menu): verify (a) whether ISED actually requires consumer booster carrier-registration — the menu currently asserts this; (b) exact tariff applicability to listed electronics vs. broad claims; (c) current hardware prices. Fix the menu, then publish.
Phase 1 — Build (Days 1–7)
Day 1: Create the group (PUBLIC — Amazon requires it). Paste About + 5 rules. Publish Featured #1 (welcome + template). Invite 30–50 friends. Post "Why I started this group."
Day 2: Map goes live post. Seed ~20 pins on known rough stretches (Hwy 4/Kennedy Lake, Port Renfrew–Jordan River, Bamfield Rd, North Island Hwy past Campbell River) labeled "reported — confirm?"
Day 3: Publish Featured #2 (fixes guide). Post Tower Tech Explains #1 (why carrier maps lie).
Day 4: Create the business Page. Paste Page About. Post Page launch + services posts (pin both). Share Page to the group. Link Page ↔ group (Group Settings → Linked Pages; About sections link both ways).
Day 5: Dead Spot Friday #1.
Day 6: Cross-post invites (with admin permission) in 3–4 VI community/RV/camping/seniors groups.
Day 7: Publish Featured #3 (petitions). Upload Survival Guide to group Files.
Phase 2 — Traction (Days 8–30)
Weekly rituals: Map Monday, Dead Spot Friday, Tower Tech Explains, Ask-a-Tech Tuesday (live 1 hr, ends with $89 survey closer).
Cross-posting round 2 (different groups). First carrier poll. First member fix spotlight (or your own demo install).
Day 30 targets: 200 members · 50 map pins · first bookings · Page reviews started.
Start the post-install review DM loop from install #1.
Phase 3 — Amazon + first revenue (Days 30–60)
Amazon Associates application (only now — needs 10+ original posts live, public group, published Page). List both the Page URL and group URL as Sites.
180-day clock starts: 3 qualifying sales needed. Never your own orders — instant ban. Seed via early members through the fixes guide.
Fee reality: Amazon.ca publishes 5% for Cell Phones & Accessories — actual categorization varies by listing. Re-check the fee statement at signup.
Disclosure on every link post:"As an Amazon Associate I earn from qualifying purchases."
Quarterly: refresh hardware prices in the fixes guide and menu.
PART 3 — EDUCATION GUIDE (what you teach)
This is the product before the product. Teach generously; it manufactures trust that converts.
The core lessons (use everywhere — group posts, DMs, surveys)
Wi-Fi calling is free and fixes half of "no bars indoors." iPhone: Settings → Phone → Wi-Fi Calling. Android: Phone app → Settings → Calls → Wi-Fi calling. Always offer this first — recommending the free fix is what makes the paid advice believed.
Read dBm, not bars. iPhone: dial *3001#12345#*. Android: Settings → About → SIM status. -70 to -90 = healthy. -100 to -110 = booster territory. -115 or worse = nothing to amplify → Starlink.
The booster rule: a booster amplifies; it cannot invent signal. 1–2 bars outside → booster works. Zero bars → Starlink. Full bars outside / nothing inside → building materials (metal roof, foil insulation) → booster with indoor antenna.
Carrier truth: different carriers = different towers, bands, and directional sectors. Your neighbour's bars prove nothing about your house.
The Starlink decision: no usable cell signal at all → Starlink (~$499 kit or $0 rental; $75–150/mo; 500K+ Canadians). A $700 booster in a true dead zone is a $700 paperweight — say so out loud.
Tower Tech Explains (the uncopyable pillar — bank of topics)
✅ #1: Why your carrier's coverage map lies (predictions, not measurements)
✅ #2: Why your neighbour has bars and you don't (carriers, modems, materials, sectors)
✅ #3: What 5G upgrades actually mean for rural Island (capacity in towns, not new rural coverage)
Future: how towers get sited (and why yours won't) · what -dBm actually means · why signal dies in storms · the economics of a new tower site · metal roofs vs. signal · why your phone lies about "5G"
Prices observed Sept 30, 2026 — verify before publishing. US-made picks exposed to counter-tariff swings; Canadian-made picks are not.
PART 4 — MONETIZATION GUIDE (how money flows)
A. Install revenue (the business)
Service
Price
📡 Tower-Tech Signal Survey (credited to install)
$89
🏠 Home booster install / large property
$199 / $299
🚐 Vehicle/RV install (we come to you)
$179
🛰️ Starlink install (complex from $449, quoted upfront)
$299
👴 Senior Connectivity Checkup
$99
🔁 Annual Signal Health Check
$79
🏡 Realtor Connectivity Report
$129/listing
📶 Cellular Failover Router Setup
$149
The flow: free advice → $89 survey → install (survey credited) → before/after post + review → referrals. The survey is the hinge: it de-risks the $700 decision, and "I'll tell you if it won't work" is the line that sells it.
Illustrative math (not a promise): 10 surveys/month → 6 convert to installs at ~$200 avg labour = ~$1,200 install labour + $890 surveys (of which $534 credited) ≈ ~$1,550/month net labour before hardware margins — plus affiliate trickle, plus recurring checks. Scale comes from the map compounding, not from working more hours per job.
B. Affiliate revenue (the side income)
Program: Amazon.ca Associates. ~5% published for Cell Phones & Accessories (listing-dependent — verify at signup).
Gate: public group + published Page + 10+ original posts before applying. 3 qualifying sales in 180 days or the account closes. Personal orders don't count.
Placement: fixes guide (Featured #2) + Survival Guide PDF + occasional "price drop" posts. Never affiliate links in cold comments.
Disclosure (every link post):"As an Amazon Associate I earn from qualifying purchases."
Reality check: this funds the map; it doesn't replace installs. A $466 booster at ~5% ≈ ~$23. You need volume — which is exactly what a 1,000-member group produces.
C. Recurring & adjacent
Annual Signal Health Checks ($79) — every install becomes a yearly customer.
Realtor reports ($129/listing) — one relationship, repeating listings.
Member joins → reports dead spot → gets free expert advice → books $89 survey → converts to install → posts before/after → leaves Page review → refers neighbours.
PART 5 — CHEAT SHEET: RULES & MO
Group rules (the 5)
Be a good neighbour — no personal attacks, no harassing carrier employees.
Dead-spot reports use the template.
No spam/MLM/cold-DM selling — one warning, then removed.
Selling boosters/installs? Message an admin first. (Yes, the admin installs — disclosed, not hidden.)
Admin affiliate links fund the map — always labeled.
MO — how you operate
90/10. Community value first, business second. Never post the menu unprompted — let them ask.
Voice: the tower tech next door. Plain language, zero jargon, tell people when NOT to buy.
Traffic plumbing: Page linked to group · tag the Page, don't paste URLs · pin Page-link comment on viral posts · Ask-a-Tech always ends with the survey closer · monthly availability post · review DM after every install · lead magnet in Files.
DM funnel: public value first → "sending you a DM 👍" → Page DM with booking prompt. Never pitch in comments uninvited.
Reviews are the Page's fuel. Every install: (1) before/after in the group, (2) Page review. 30 seconds of asking, permanent trust asset.
Reply templates (short)
"Which booster?" → "Depends on your outside signal — post your readings? 1–2 bars outside → Smoothtalker Z1 or SureCall Flare (featured guide). Zero bars → Starlink territory. Happy to give a straight answer — and I install mid-Island if you'd rather not DIY."
"Is Starlink worth it?" → "No usable cell signal → yes, it's the only option. ~$499 kit or $0 rental, $75–150/mo. Check your postal code at starlink.com/ca — pricing moves. I install if you don't want the roof."
"Why does my neighbour have bars?" → "Usually: different carrier, better phone modem, or building materials — metal roof/foil insulation eats 2–3 bars. Sometimes you're just between tower sectors. Post carrier + outside bars, I'll tell you which."
Compliance red lines
Only recommend/install ISED-certified boosters.
Verify before publishing: the menu's carrier-registration claim, tariff applicability per product, all hardware prices.
Affiliate disclosure on every link post. Never your own orders through your links.
Never claim a product is Canadian-made unless it is. "Canadian company" ≠ "made in Canada" — keep the distinction the menu uses.
